We Are Now Carrying the Teensy Product Line!

We are excited to announce that we are now a distributor for the Teensy line of products from PJRC.

The Teensy product line is a performance-oriented line of microcontrollers that includes the Teensy 4.0 and 4.1 that incorporate the world’s fastest microcontroller, the 600MHz i.MX RT1060 with ARM Core-M7 that can be overclocked up to 1GHz. It is all packaged in a very ‘teensy’ size of only 1.4” x 0.7” or 2.4” x 0.7”.

The Teensy 4.x products include such advanced features as 64-bit internal data buses, full 64-bit floating point via FPU hardware. Ability to execute up to 2 instructions per clock cycle, many built-in interfaces such as CAN bus, IC2, Serial, SPI and ethernet and is breadboard compatible.

These products have enough power for real-time music synthesizing, advanced robotic control, real-time data collection and lots of other cool stuff.  Audio adapter boards are available for audio projects.

A great feature unlike most advanced microcontrollers is that the Teensy products are Arduino compatible on the software side and can be programmed with the familiar Arduino IDE programming environment without buying specialized programming equipment. Many of the existing Arduino libraries will work with Teensy as-is and many Teensy specific libraries that take advantage of the enhanced features and peripherals have been developed or are in the pipeline.

Another nice feature is the PJRC Forum.  PJRC hosts an excellent forum for the Teensy products that is targeted toward more advanced users and projects.

If you are currently familiar with Arduino, migrating to Teensy to take your game up to the next level is extremely easy.

The price is right as well with the 48MHz Teensy LC (Low Cost) version starting at just $12.50 up to the top of the line Teensy 4.1 at $27.95.  All of our boards ship with a set if selectively plated gold headers.

The chart below shows the CoreMark Benchmark testing with the Teensy boards as well as several other popular microcontrollers.  Some of the boards that can be overclocked show both the performance at the standard clock rate as well as the overclocked (OC) performance.  In some cases, overclocking requires heat sinking be added to the CPU.

Larger numbers = faster performance.

 

In case you are wondering, we aren’t currently offering the Teensy 3.6 as the features and performance are a subset of the Teensy 4.1 which sells at a lower price.

  • 2 USB ports, both 480 Mbit/sec, can be any device type
  • 3 CAN Bus (1 with CAN FD)

  • 3 I2C, all with 4 byte FIFO
